Still Too Quiet

Another morning of repairin poles bent by a bear and we set nets. Sigh. A very quiet day, again, as we wind down the year.

Our second run down the lanes found a recaptured White-eyed Vireo, first banded a year ago.

Just after that, we had a new male Northern Cardinal.

We then had a long spell of no birds until we recaptured another male Northern Cardinal. He was first banded 4 years ago. Still going strong.

After a morning of resetting poles, Jenny wanted to make a 'fruit picker' from one of the wounded poles. She seems to like these very sour oranges near the end of the lanes. Must be a craving thing...

With the. holidays running us down quickly, we have decided to take next Sunday off. We will retun the following Sunday, the first of the 2026.

Very Quiet Sunday

A warmer morning as we headed out but it was a very quiet Sunday. Not much moving around today.

Our first two birds were Gray Catbirds.

Then it was rpretty much nothing else for the day. A huge group of volunteers from the Seminole Native Plant Society were coming today to remove invasives and, as we closed up before their arrival, we did get a Western Palm Warbler to close things out.

One more day before the Christmas week. Calendars are in hand. Hopefully, we can get some birds next Sunday. Where are the Robins and Waxwings? Too quiet for our taste, but the weather is about perfect for another morning out.

Special Saturday Banding

We are doing a special Saturday banding day instead of Sunday so some friends of Susan can see what we usually do as they remove invasives in the park.

Again, not banding Sunday. Saturday only. Same opening time. Hope to get some birds for the new visitors.

No Banding December 7th

Suppose to be a rainy weekend. With birds being so quite this last few weeks I think we could all use a rest, too.

Will try again next week.
