Slow Start to March

Still having problems with the photo server...boo. But! We enjoyed the company of some visitors that got to release our 3 birds we banded this morning. A 2nd Yellow-rump got out of the net before it could be placed in a bag.

Will be out next Sunday. REMINDER It is Daylight Savings time so Spring Forward!!

No Banding February 22nd

Rains are projected for Sunday followed by new winds from a new cold front. Wet and windy conditions are not good for banding, so we will push back to the first day of March.

Can't put away those Winter coats just yet!

Still a little too cold for us and the birds.

Swamp Sparrow Day

Turned out to be a fairly quiet morning again.

Minutes before sunrise, we captured a Swamp Sparrow.



A bit later we recaptured the sparrow again and a recaptured White-eyed Vireo.

One of our new visitors, Falon, got to release the Swamp Sparrow.

At the end of the day we caught another Swamp Sparrow. This was a recapture that we first banded two months ago.



We are not banding next Sunday. Staff shortage.

Front appraoching. Rain could be here into the overnight. Plus, a day of Christmas Bird counting. Haven't walked this much in years! Going to feel it tonight and tomorrow.
