Gray Catbirds ruled the day for the second week in a row. Migration is moving Northward right on schedule.
House Wrens are getting more active, too. We had two today and some are singing on property.
Northern Parulas chicks are everywhere and the parents are busy finding food for these hungry babies. We caught several, some more than once, as they gathered food for eager mouths. This was a nice adult male.
The crew found a Parula nest just past Net 10 and got some shots of Mom feeding babies in there little moss house overhead. We caught her 3 times before deciding to close the net to stop causing stress. She definitly had a particular route. Look closely and you can see the band that was applied an hour eariler.
As always, guests get to release and photgraph the processed birds.
Bird of the Day goes to a male Indigo Bunting captured in Net 2 just behind the table at the end of the day. Seems we always catch one last bunting around Earth Day.
